The Farne Islands are situated 1-1.5 miles off the Northumberland Heritage Coastline
The islands now boast just over 98,500 breeding pairs of birds. There is a huge diversity of seabirds and wildlife on the islands, from Puffins to Razorbills, the rarest Roseate Tern, to Common or Garden Cormorants.
The islands offer unique opportunities to observe the inquisitive nature of the rarest seal species in the world, the grey seal. The Farne Islands are home to the largest Grey Seal colony, latest data from the islands record that there are 3,800 animals with an average of 1,200 pups born annually.
